First, the basics…

Today I added a basic tree on MyHeritage.  Nothing too fancy – just 172 people.  Siblings of my direct line, but in general not their spouses or children – or THEIR spouses and children.  Maybe later I’ll add that in – maybe not.  I haven’t decided, yet…

Okay.  Well, the first thing someone doing a DNA test wants to know is if they ARE, in fact, their parents’ child.  In my case, both are deceased, so I looked immediately for first cousins that I grew up with.  On Mom’s side – yup!  There’s a match with my mother’s sister’s oldest daughter and son!  On Dad’s side – yup!  There’s a match with my Dad’s sister’s son’s 2 sons!  So the parents I grew up with ARE my parents!  Nice to know!

Also really great to find that so many close family had already tested!  I was surprised – I didn’t know they were all that interested.  Really.  So that gave me the warm fuzzies.  Everyone should get the warm fuzzies once in a while…

More tomorrow…

About archivecookie

I'm a Researcher, Archivist and Genealogist. I started researching my family tree in the mid-1970's before the internet made it so much easier, and more complicated. So much on the internet is NOT well researched, and copying it is a temptation too many succumb to. I hope to blog about what I've found in my own research - maybe you'll find your missing link here! ;-) Follow Me on Mastodon Follow Me on Twitter Follow Me on Post Social Follow Me on CounterSocial
